Technology
Bookings depend on combinations: a session needs a qualified instructor, a room of a certain size and a set of equipment, and none of them can be double-booked. A shared calendar cannot express the dependency, so a coordinator checks it manually.
A booking model where a bookable event is a combination of resources with availability rules, qualifications and buffer times. Conflicts are prevented at the point of booking rather than discovered later, and confirmations and reminders are generated automatically.
A concept example. The intent is to move the rules out of a coordinator’s head and into the system, so that the coordinator handles exceptions instead of the routine.
